Young artists from Madeira and international artists who reside on the island participated in a two-day workshop held by ARTE. M association. The project was created together with our Polish partner Centrum Edukacyjne EST and was supported by Erasmus+ under the name ArtLid.
The purpose of this workshop was to provide the artists a chance to investigate various methods for promoting and selling their work, with a focus on social media, SEO, and storytelling. The session also offered guidance on how to connect, value, and sell one's art from our magnificent art curator Cefyn Embling-Evans. Our German intern Julia Kussl gave a well-informative presentation on legal terms regarding art agreements and how to protect the copyright of works of art, both on and off the internet.
The workshop was a huge success, with over 20 international participants based on the island attending. Imagine, we also had participants from Porto Santo. Hope to engage with them more in the future.
The first day focused on storytelling and social media, with a series of talks and sessions held by Anastasia Mazur about exploring how to use social media platforms to showcase and sell artwork. Participants were taught the importance of creating a strong brand identity so they will be recognizable by their own artistic language.
In the mentorship sessions during the second day, participants received tips and tricks on how to value their artwork, how to price it, and how to market it effectively. They also had the chance to submit their artworks and new and improved artist statements to Mr. Evans. Finally, the workshop ended with a lecture from a professional photographer Andriy Petryna who provided knowledge on how to improve their photography skills. Participants learned how to use lighting, angles, and composition to capture their artwork in the best possible light.
Overall, the workshop was a fantastic opportunity for young artists from Madeira to learn valuable skills and gain insights into how to promote and sell their artwork effectively. The combination of storytelling, social media and mentorship provided a well-rounded approach to marketing and showcasing their art. We hope to see many of these young artists succeed in the future and continue to produce beautiful and inspiring art for years to come.
And who knows, maybe you will see their art in our gallery very, very soon.
