A newly planted tree for every notebook sold, a donated bottle of milk for an abandoned
child when a bottle shampoo is sold - I’m sure that all of us already have encountered these
selling strategies in everyday life. But how does this so-called ´´social entrepreneurship´´
really work?
The participants from four different countries have gathered at Art Center Caravel hosted by
ARTE.M in Funchal to work on the last training course of “my soft city: from flaneur to
entrepreneur” project. The goal was to learn how you can make social businesses profitable
and how to add a social component to companies. But that was not the only thing on the
program! Artist and fashion designer Nathan Slate from Madeira gave a workshop on how to
be creative using only natural and local materials from the island such us like collected
willow and clay from the beach. Google-Trainer Trevor Beck taught us how to use Google for
Non-profits and at “Start up Madeira” we got insights on how the idea of the “digital nomad
villages” was born during the pandemic.
But it has also been the last get-together of this three-year project, which has now come to
an end. Sine 2021 the participants have attended various workshops in Romania, France,
Sweden and now Portugal. And that also had to be celebrated accordingly with some
Poncha!
