Hi Stefan, tell us something about yourself.
Hey, I’m Stefan, originally from Macedonia. I’m 26 years old, with a background in IT and a strong passion for photography, hiking, and flying drones. I love exploring new places, capturing unique moments, and finding ways to merge technology with creativity.

Why did you decide to come and volunteer here? What inspired you?
I was looking for a new experience and challenge in my life, and this opportunity felt like the perfect fit. I was already familiar with Madeira and knew about its incredible landscapes and vibrant culture, so I was excited to come here. The island itself is a huge source of inspiration—the dramatic cliffs, endless hiking trails, and ever-changing light make it a paradise for anyone who loves nature and creativity.
What have you learned from these months here?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to slow down and appreciate the small moments in everyday life. The warm weather, the easygoing lifestyle, and the sense of community here create the perfect environment for that. Coming from a fast-paced work environment, this experience has taught me the value of balance—taking time to enjoy the present while still being productive.
What do you think of the working atmosphere in the ARTHubMadeira and ARTE.M association? What did you do here?
This was my first experience working in a creative environment like this, and I couldn’t have asked for a better atmosphere. The team is incredibly supportive, and the relaxed vibe makes it easy to collaborate and experiment with new ideas. I’ve been involved in various projects, including redesigning the website and integrating new features like the 3D virtual tour. It’s been rewarding to see how technology can enhance artistic spaces and make them more accessible to people.
Do you have a happy place on the island?
It’s almost impossible to pick just one—Madeira has so many breathtaking spots. But if I had to choose, I’d say São Lourenço at sunrise. Watching the first light hit the cliffs with the ocean stretching endlessly around you is something special. Another highlight is hiking above the clouds in the mountains—those views are unforgettable.
What is your favorite element of Portuguese culture?
Bolo do Caco
Do you have any tips about living and working here?
2. Try the chicken wrap at Art Food Corner – Get it with mixed sauce, trust me on this one.
3. Surround yourself with like-minded people – Whether you’re into hiking, art, sports, or networking, there’s a community for everything here.
4. Don’t forget Pastel de Nata – A perfect little treat that never gets old.
