Christián Gold studied at the art atelier of Graphic Design in Czech Republic.
Hence Gold experimented with chemical transfer on plywood to create this collection presented here today, and one of only a handful of proponents willing to tackle the problems of attempting formats larger than A3. The result is actually a mix of several techniques including: sand-colours, spray, glue, acrylic, and water-based markers.
Christián: I found myself more creative very soon in my life than I can remember. As a child, I started making my own sacred fantasy where I was for many hours every day. Sometimes just a small thing that happened, for example, I saw a situation or heard a song created a stimulus for my imagination and I could think of a whole story about it. I think it was because when I was a small child, my parents were too cautious and they did not let me travel alone to school by public transport or go far to play with other children. By the time I was 14, my freedom was very limited. And I hated it, because my natural characteristic is to enjoy adventures and I like to do it alone. So, I think this is why I started creating my own worlds where I spent all those childhood years.
Christián: When I was 14, my world was spinned 360 degrees. Because my parents divorced, my father disappeared, and my mother lost control. So, from almost any freedom, I become 100% free, so I started to meet people a lot.. Drink and go to parties ... But at that moment I was so confident in my Imagination that I was automatically connected to the middle of those worlds, from my inner world to a real world. Of course, I went to Art high school, and later to the University of Arts. Here I have learned how to think more effectively and also to use my hands and head to bring things from my fantasy world to canvas or wood ...
Christián: For the art of Madeira, I think it is very international, because there are a lot of people like me who came there, found inspiration there (I heard legends about the energy of the mystery that the Islands awaken in people). It is like a bay of art, where you have art from many cultures, souls inspired by a beautiful place. This is why I would like to get art there.
Christián: For me as an artist I really hope I can make enough money with my art so I can afford to push it to another level. So much for the future in art for me is its evolution and independence.
